Binns to leave Merchants Square in Colonial Williamsburg

Longtime upscale fashion retailer Binns of Williamsburg is leaving the Merchants Square building the business called home for more than 55 years, its vice president confirmed.

Binns plans to move to WindsorMeade Marketplace next to Bed Bath & Beyond at 4900 Monticello Ave., Suite 5, in James City County in September, said Binns vice president Thomas Smith Jr., who runs Binns with sister, president and CEO Kimberly Jones.

We’re moving for the convenience of our customers. It’s where retail is happening,” Smith said. “And Colonial Williamsburg is segueing into a pedestrian park that will be beautiful. It’ll be bittersweet for us to leave, but the time has come.”

Jeff Duncan, vice president of real estate for Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, said Binns would be vacating its 435 W. Duke of Gloucester St. location with 9,200 square feet of leasable retail space at the end of August.
