Fords Colony Country Club opens renovated Marsh Hawk Course

James City County is pleased to announce that Ford’s Colony Country Club held a ribbon cutting ceremony for their recently renovated Marsh Hawk Course. The golf course was originally built and designed by Dan Maples in 1985 and is a traditional tree-lined golf course with small undulating greens and strategically placed bunkers.

The renovations included replacement of turf on all 18 greens of the Marsh Hawk Course, extension of the greens and course improvements for enhanced play-ability. All turf was replaced with new Champion Bermuda grass, which has a better growth pattern and a faster recovery time.

In 2016, the clubhouse at Ford’s Colony received major renovations including a new lobby area, upgrades to both restaurants and a new outdoor patio with amenities.

Ford’s Colony Country Club offers 54 holes of championship golf, driving range, golf academy and two restaurants. The facility is open year round to members and the general public. Ford’s Colony Country Club can also host events including weddings, corporate meetings and golf tournaments. Ford’s Colony Country Club has been a member of the ClubCorp family since 2015. ClubCorp is a leading owner-operator of private golf and country clubs and owns or operates more than 200 golf and country clubs, business clubs, sports clubs and alumni clubs.

Ford’s Colony is an award winning multi-generational community of over 5400 residents in more than 2500 homes.  It is situated on 3,200 acres in Virginia’s Historic Triangle, comprised of Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. With the nearby Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean beaches to the east and the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains to the west, Ford’s Colony is surrounded by a wide range of outdoor activities, entertainment, arts and cultural venues, good shopping and great dining.

The gated community was designed and built along landscaped roads that meander in and around a landscape of ponds, wetlands, and woodlands. Ford’s Colony offers about 60 clubs and activities to suit residents of all ages who come from across the country and around the world with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and careers. Amenities include two community pools, hard and clay tennis courts, a nature trail, walking and bicycle paths, as well as the Ford’s Colony Country Club with three golf courses. Many of the residents are active volunteers, both inside the gates and with organizations across the Historic Triangle.

About mrwilliamsburg

I love Williamsburg !
Being “Mr. Williamsburg” and starting my web site in 2004 has been a great way for me to help people looking for homes for sale, communities and an “insider knowledge.” of the area.
Turned out I was onto something. Because I offer in-depth information and up-to-the-minute blogging, even international clients have found me. One couple, moving back to the States from France, told me that a post I wrote blog about grocery shopping in Williamsburg convinced them that Williamsburg was the place to be, and that I was the best source by far that they found on the web.
I’m happy to say that I hear similar comments from many of my clients looking for homes throughout Williamsburg and Hampton Roads.
I grew up in Virginia Beach, Va, After attending college, I worked at a number of positions including manager of a land development and construction company and business manager of a cut flower business that we grew in sales from $300,000 to $15 million (we were supplier to Whole Foods and one of the first cut flower suppliers to Costco).
In 2004, it seemed like a good time to simplify my life. I moved my family from Annapolis to Williamsburg. I went into real estate with Liz Moore and Associates, and was one of the initial agents when Liz opened her Williamsburg branch.
My sons Zach and Josh attend Lafayette High School and Hornsby Middle School and are crazy about sports and the outdoors.
I feel lucky to be living the dream, and saving two to four hours by not driving on the DC beltway every day. So, I can now spend my time with family while concentrating on learning — and sharing — information about living in Williamsburg.
In real estate, no two people or transactions are the same. Everything’s a challenge, and I’m rewarded every time in close a transaction and have the opportunity to see the smiles on clients’ faces.
