Spring is just around the corner, and if you’ve ever dreamed of having a greener thumb (or just want to spend some time outdoors learning something new), Williamsburg Community Growers is offering a fantastic lineup of FREE garden workshops at the WCG Teaching Farm in the Warhill Sports Complex!

These hands-on Saturday morning sessions (10-11 AM) are open to everyone, from beginner gardeners to seasoned pros. No registration required—just show up and get your hands in the dirt! 🏡🌿

Here’s what’s sprouting this season:

🌱 April 2 – Native Plants

Discover plants native to Virginia, why they’re important, and how to create your own native garden!

🥒 May 3 – Cucurbits

Squash, melons, cucumbers, and pumpkins—learn how to grow these garden favorites, along with tips for pest and disease prevention.

🐝 June 7 – Bees

It’s all the buzz! 🐝 Visit the farm’s beehives and explore the life cycle, habits, and benefits of bees.

♻️ July 12 – Composting

Turn kitchen scraps into garden gold! Learn the do’s and don’ts of composting and how to start your own at home.

🥕 August 2 – Food Storage

So… you’ve grown all these delicious veggies—now what? Learn how to preserve your harvest with freezing, curing, and pickling techniques.

🦋 September 6 – Beneficial Bugs

Not all bugs are bad! Discover which insects help your garden thrive and how to attract them.

🌿 October 4 – Square Foot Gardening

Maximize your garden space with this efficient and easy planting method—perfect for home gardeners!
