Hello, fellow music enthusiasts! It’s John Womeldorf, your go-to guy for all things Williamsburg, and as a music lover who’s traveled far and wide for the best tunes, I’m thrilled to announce the return of the Port Warwick Summer Concert Series. Set your summer Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM for some outstanding live music at William Styron Square, starting May 22 through August 28.

The Port Warwick concert series is celebrating its 17th year, continuing its tradition as the first and most popular free outdoor summer concert series in Newport News. Offering a diverse range of musical genres, this series is a staple for anyone wanting to indulge in jazz, blues, rock and roll, samba, and folk, attracting anywhere from 1,000 to over 3,000 people per event.

  • May 22: Brasswind – Motown, R&B, Classic Horn Band Sound
  • May 29: Bobby Black Hat & Fade to Blue – Award-winning Blues Showcase
  • June 5: Girl Can’t Help It – 80s Hits, Female Journey Tribute Band
  • June 12: Down River – Southern Rock, Traditional Country
  • June 19: BJ Griffin Band – A mix of Classical, Funk, Jazz, Pop, R&B/Soul, Rock, as seen on America’s Got Talent
  • June 26: Soul Intent – Funk and Soul Rhythms from the 60s and 70s
  • July 3: Revelation – Versatile, High Energy Band
  • July 10: Blackout – Classic Modern Rock and Party Band
  • July 17: Celeste Kellogg – CMA, Nashville charting recording artist, Country, Rock, Pop
  • July 24: Phazz II – Smooth and Funky Jazz
  • July 31: 2nd Wynd Band – Contemporary R&B
  • August 7: Wonderland – High-energy Party Band
  • August 14: Anthony Rosano & the Conqueroos – National Touring Artist, #1 on the iTunes blues chart – Funk, Rock and Roll
  • August 21: USAF Rhythm in Blue – Patriotic, Dynamic Jazz Ensemble
  • August 28: Good Shot Judy – Swing and Swagger with Classic Vocal Jazz Entertainment

Event Insights

  • Seating: Bring your blankets, chairs, and small coolers. Please note, personal tents and umbrellas are not permitted.
  • Dining: Arrive early to dine at Port Warwick’s exceptional restaurants or enjoy selections from local food vendors available each concert night.
  • Parking: Free parking is provided at nearby Sentara Hospital, away from the emergency room entrance. Be mindful of private lots reserved exclusively for residents and merchants of Port Warwick.
