Dominion Energy Riverrock Announces Music Line Up

Dominion Energy Riverrock, May 15-17
Brown’s Island and Historic Tredegar

Dominion Energy Riverrock announced today the full list of music acts performing at this year’s festival. On Friday, May 15, The Motet will take the stage at 8 p.m. On Saturday, May 16, Dr. Dog will be the headliner, also taking the stage at 8 p.m.

On the heels of what group members call “one of the most fertile creative periods in the group’s history,” Dr. Dog will bring a wide range of sounds and sonic exploration to the Dominion Energy Riverrock stage. From their early days of 1960s-inspired psych-pop to the groove-punk and pastoral folk-rock of later albums, the Philadelphia-based artists have maintained an enduring commitment to their own creative evolution. The band is currently touring in support of their most recent album, ‘Critical Equation,’ which they released in April 2018.

The Motet harnesses energy that comes from unity and movement created during their performances to form the unique sound they’ll bring to audiences in Richmond. Featuring Dave Watts on drums, Joey Porter on keys, Garrett Sayers on bass, Ryan Jalbert on guitar, Lyle Divinsky on vocals, Drew Sayers on sax, and Parris Fleming on trumpet, The Motet released ‘Death or Devotion,’ their ninth full-length album, in January 2019, and aim to make a dynamic and definitive statement whenever they step on stage.

Dominion Energy Riverrock, organized by Venture Richmond and Sports Backers, began in 2009 and is now the nation’s premier outdoor sports and lifestyle festival, bringing athletes, spectators, musicians, and even dogs to Brown’s Island for a three-day festival against the backdrop of downtown Richmond’s urban riverfront. The festival features a variety of outdoor sports including trail running, kayaking, biking, bouldering, slacklining, stand up paddleboarding, and dog jumping. The event was designed to promote Richmond’s unique riverfront, downtown trails, and whitewater rapids to outdoor enthusiasts. As a result of the creation of Dominion Energy Riverrock, there is a stronger appreciation for the value of outdoor recreation throughout the entire Richmond region.
