Sounds of Summer at Riverwalk Landing

When: Thursday Evenings, 6:30-9 p.m., June 6 through August 15

Kick off your summer with the annual Sounds of Summer concert series, a favorite local tradition. Set against the backdrop of Riverwalk Landing, every Thursday night comes alive with the sounds of Motown, R&B, beach music, pop, and more. This series promises an eclectic lineup designed to make every evening unforgettable:

  • June 6: The Uptown Band
  • June 13: The Main Event Band
  • June 20: The Nashville Nights Band
  • June 27: Blackout
  • July 11: The Gentlemen & Their Lady
  • July 18: The Embers
  • July 25: InsideOut Band
  • August 1: Band of Oz
  • August 8: The Deloreans
  • August 15: Slapnation

  6. The Embers: A beach music legend, The Embers are synonymous with the Carolina shag dance scene and are beloved for their soulful beach tunes.

Bring your chairs, blankets, and coolers, and find a spot early on the grassy field to enjoy these free performances. While alcohol is permitted, it’s restricted to the designated concert area.

Rhythms on the Riverwalk

When: Thursday Evenings, 6:30-8:30 p.m., September 5 through October 10

As summer gives way to fall, the Rhythms on the Riverwalk series offers a serene escape with jazz, big band, and country tunes serenading you as the sun sets in a glorious display of colors. This series is perfect for those looking to unwind with friends and family as the air turns cooler—just don’t forget to pack a jacket along with your picnic gear!

A Night with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra

When: Saturday, August 31, 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Highlighting the cultural calendar is the annual outdoor performance by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, generously funded by the local community. The evening starts with a performance by the award-winning Fifes and Drums of York Town at 6 p.m., followed by a creative picnic setup competition. This night of exquisite music under the stars is not to be missed.

  • Parking and Transportation: Free parking is available at multiple locations, including York Hall and the County Administration Building. For added convenience, the complimentary Yorktown Trolley runs from 5 to 9:30 p.m. during concert evenings, making stops throughout the area.
