Cale Development. LLC a local company headed by John Cale ( who is on the planning commission) has applied to rezone approximately 13.91 acres from Single-Family Residential RS-2 to Multifamily Dwelling District RM-2 at 180 Strawberry Plains Road. The planning commission will hear the case at its public meeting in the Stryker Building on SEPTEMBER 14, 2022
The community is projected to have 101 total townhomes as well as a clubhouse, pool, pickleball court and a playground.
Affordable housing component
The developer is proposing to offer 15 of the townhomes at a projected price of $225k or $100k less than the market-priced homes which will be priced at $325k or an adjusted price by the time it’s offered for sale. Note: Fair market value will be determined by the developer.
According to public records, the City of Williamsburg paid $1.1 million for the land in 1988. The City is selling the land to Cale Development for $650,000
