Port Warwick’s Free Summer Concert Series Returns with a Stellar 2025 Lineup
If you know me, you know I’m a huge fan of live music—especially when it’s outside, free, and paired with great food and a fun community vibe. That’s why I look forward to the Virginia Health Services Summer Concert Series at Port Warwick every single year.

Set on the green at William Styron Square in Port Warwick, Newport News, this free, family-friendly concert series kicks off Wednesday, May 21, and runs every Wednesday night through August 27, from 6–9 PM. That’s 15 straight weeks of live music in a setting that feels like a backyard party with a few hundred of your closest friends.
Here’s why you should mark your calendar now:

What to Bring (and What Not To)
Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and small coolers (yes, libations are welcome).
Leave the umbrellas and tents at home—those aren’t permitted, and let’s be honest, they block the view anyway.
The series is rain or shine, but extreme weather like Nor’easters or saturated ground may lead to cancellations. Updates will be posted by 5:30 PM on Port Warwick’s Facebook page and official website.
Let’s Talk Food
Come early and grab dinner on-site—there’s a rotation of local food trucks and you can always enjoy a bite (or a cocktail) from one of Port Warwick’s outstanding restaurants:
Schlesinger’s Chop House – Elegant steaks, seafood & cocktails Fin Seafood – Upscale, award-winning dining Thaijindesu Thai & Sushi Bar – Flavor-packed Thai dishes and sushi Brickhouse Tavern – Casual pub fare and drinks
Each restaurant has patio seating facing the square, so you can dine while soaking in the sounds.
Parking Tips
The main parking lot for the event is at Sentara Hospital—just follow the signs (and don’t park near the ER entrance). Respect coned-off areas and remember, private lots inside Port Warwick are for residents and merchants only. Let’s be good guests so we can keep the good vibes rolling every year.
Whether you’re coming for the music, the food, the people—or all three—this is one of the best ways to spend a summer evening on the Peninsula.
Hope to see you there, and if you spot me filming a clip or dancing awkwardly near the front, feel free to say hi!
