As One Door Closes, Another One Opens: Ricky’s Wine Bar Coming to Downtown Williamsburg
Downtown Williamsburg continues to evolve — and in the best possible way.
Just as Hound’s Tale prepares to open the doors to its new location, part of their former space at 501 Prince George Street is about to get a fresh new life. The Williamsburg Economic Development Authority has just approved an incentive grant for a brand-new concept: Ricky’s Wine Bar, expected to open in spring 2026.

And as someone who proudly considers himself a foodie and an occasional drinker, this is exactly the kind of news I love to see.
Ricky’s Wine Bar is being created by chef and entrepreneur Riccardo Rinaldi, who brings more than 20 years of culinary experience, including time in several Michelin-starred restaurants. He and his wife and business partner, Amber, relocated to Williamsburg in 2024 and have spent the past two years building relationships with local farmers and producers — always a great sign when it comes to thoughtful food and drink.
The concept sounds like a perfect fit for downtown:
A curated selection of European and Virginia wines by the glass and bottle, paired with rotating small plates inspired by the Italian tradition of aperitivo — relaxed, social, unhurried evenings built around conversation and connection.
The City clearly sees the potential here as well. Through a revenue-sharing incentive, Williamsburg is helping support year-round outdoor dining improvements, and projections estimate more than $180,000 in local meals and sales tax revenue over the first five years. That’s good business for the owners — and good business for the community.
What I love most about this story is the timing.
As one door closes, another one opens.
Hound’s Tale moves forward in its new chapter, and downtown gains another gathering place — one more reason to linger, meet friends, share a plate, and enjoy a glass of wine on Prince George Street.
If you’ve followed my writing for a while, you know I’m passionate about more than just homes and neighborhoods. I care deeply about the lifestyle that makes Williamsburg such a special place to live — great food, great music, creative entrepreneurs, and a downtown that continues to grow in interesting ways.
Ricky’s Wine Bar feels like exactly that kind of addition.
I’ll be watching closely — and I fully expect to be sitting on that patio with a glass in hand come spring.
Why I Write These Articles
People often ask why a real estate agent spends so much time writing about restaurants, music, events, and local businesses.
The answer is simple: real estate is about lifestyle, not just houses.
When someone moves to Williamsburg, they’re not just buying square footage — they’re buying into a community, a culture, and a way of life. I write these pieces to help showcase what makes this area special, to spotlight the people building great things here, and to give newcomers (and longtime residents) a better sense of what living here actually feels like.
