Virginia Beach Oceanfront Concert Series: I’m In—Who’s Coming With Me?

You all know I’m a huge music guy… so when this lineup dropped, I didn’t just glance at it—I started circling dates.

The Virginia Beach Oceanfront Concert Series is bringing in legit talent this summer. Not background noise… actual bands worth the drive. I’ve seen a bunch of these artists live, and a few of these nights are already locked into my calendar.

And yes… somehow, it’s all free. Thank you, Virginia Beach. Typically tickets to see any of these artists would be $25-$50 each.

The Wailers, MC Lyte, Alana Springsteen
Classic, feel-good reggae from The Wailers—laid back, rhythmic, timeless. MC Lyte brings sharp, old-school hip-hop with real lyrical punch. Alana Springsteen leans modern country-pop—polished, catchy, and built for singalongs.

Chayce Beckham, The War & Treaty, Moon Taxi, G. Love, Donavon Frankenreiter
Chayce Beckham is gritty, rootsy country with a bit of rock edge. The War & Treaty deliver powerful, soulful Americana with huge vocals. Moon Taxi is upbeat indie rock with a danceable groove, while G. Love and Donavon Frankenreiter bring a breezy mix of blues, surf rock, and laid-back coastal vibes.

Umphrey’s McGee, Eggy, Dogs In A Pile
This is your jam band lane—extended solos, improvisation, and musicianship front and center. Umphrey’s McGee leans progressive and technical, while Eggy and Dogs In A Pile keep it looser, funky, and exploratory.

Josh Ross, All-4-One, The 502s, Watchhouse, Andy Frasco & the U.N., Kitchen Dwellers
Josh Ross is modern country with arena energy. All-4-One brings 90s R&B nostalgia—smooth, romantic, familiar hits. The 502s are upbeat indie folk, super fun and crowd-friendly. Watchhouse is more stripped-down, thoughtful folk/Americana. Andy Frasco is pure chaos in the best way—high-energy funk/rock party—while Kitchen Dwellers mix bluegrass with a jam-band twist.

Bottom line: this lineup covers everything from chill beach reggae to full-on jam sessions and throwback R&B—so you can pick your vibe… or just keep showing up.

🎯 My Take

This is one of those events that’s almost too easy:
Dinner somewhere on the strip… walk over to the show… ocean breeze… live music… no ticket required.

I’ve seen several of these acts before, and they put on a show. A few of these nights? Non-negotiable for me—I’ll be heading down from Williamsburg.

🚲 Local Tip

Parking can get tight—especially on the better nights.
Bring your bike. Park a little further out, hop on, and cruise the Oceanfront in. It’s faster, easier, and honestly part of the experience.

So the only question left is…

Who’s in?
