Williamsburg Artists Group to Hold October Sale in Bruton Parish House

The Williamsburg Artists Group will hold its Fall 2021 art sale in Bruton Parish House in Colonial Williamsburg, a new venue for this up-and-coming organization of local artists and artisans. 

The event, to be held on Friday, Oct. 15, from 4-7 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., will feature the work of 20 emerging and professional artists.   

“WAG is excited to be having our sale in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg this year,” said Laurie Rokutani, one of the group’s leaders. “We weren’t able to have a sale last year because of the pandemic, so our artists have more pieces available in their inventory. We work in a variety of styles and mediums, so this is a great opportunity for anyone looking for original art for their home or office to pick up affordable artwork. There will be something for everyone’s taste.” 

Rokutani added that as a community service, 10% of all sales will be donated to the Heritage Humane Society.  

WAG was established in 2018 as an independent artist organization – a type of “mobile art gallery.” This enables artists to connect with each other to exhibit and sell their artwork one-on-one to consumers, without going through a traditional brick-and-mortar gallery. At this time, an exhibit/sale is held once a year in a local venue.  The founding members are Tom Zuk, Karen Hacker, Laurie Rokutani, Kay Krapfl, and Bob Carlson.  New members are juried into WAG by the leadership team to ensure the quality of artwork is consistent with the group. 

“WAG offers an independent solution for artists who want to show their work outside of a gallery setting and offers members of the community the opportunity to visit with the artists, many of whom do not belong to local galleries, and to view many of their works at the show,” said Tom Zuk, a founding member.
