Williamsburg’s Arts Scene Takes Center Stage with Opera in Williamsburg’s New Season
October 28, 2025
For a city of about 100,000 people — including the surrounding areas — Williamsburg has built an art scene that far exceeds what most expect of a small town. From open-air concerts to chamber recitals, sculpture gardens to Shakespeare in the park, creativity pulses year-round. And now, with Opera in Williamsburg unveiling its 2025–2026 season, the city’s cultural momentum continues to rise.
Add to that the Second Sunday Art & Music Festival, where downtown bursts into color each month with painters, potters, musicians, and food vendors — plus the brand-new, world-class performance venues at William & Mary, designed with state-of-the-art acoustics — and it’s clear: Williamsburg is no longer just a historic destination. It’s a living, breathing arts hub.
🎭 GLUCK’S Orfeo ed Euridice
Live Performances: November 4, 7, and 9, 2025
Conductor: Jorge Parodi
Stage Director: Naama Zahavi-Ely
Opera in Williamsburg opens its 2025–2026 season with Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, a masterpiece that bridges myth and emotion through music. The production tells the story of Orfeo’s descent into the underworld to bring back his beloved Euridice — a moving tale of love, courage, and transformation.

Performed in the original Italian with English supertitles, this fully staged opera will be presented in the Kimball Theatre, an intimate historic venue on Duke of Gloucester Street that places the audience right in the heart of the story.
🎶 MOZART’S The Marriage of Figaro
Live Performances: May 22, 24, and 26, 2026
Conductor: Jorge Parodi
Stage Director: Adam Cioffari
This spring, the company brings Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro to Williamsburg — a sparkling comic opera filled with romance, wit, and a touch of scandal. This new production will also mark Opera in Williamsburg’s debut in William & Mary’s new performance halls, whose architecture and acoustics have been hailed as among the finest in the region.

Mozart’s music and the energy of live performance make Figaro a joyful experience that perfectly reflects Williamsburg’s evolving identity as a place where classic meets contemporary — and where the arts thrive in unexpected ways.

Events like Second Sundays, CultureFix’s concerts and festivals, and the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra’s elegant season lineup create a rhythm of artistic life that connects residents, students, and visitors alike. It’s a city that embraces both its colonial roots and its creative future — a rare and rewarding balance that makes Williamsburg feel larger than its population suggests.
