Young & Hungry + Chowderfest: Williamsburg’s Most Delicious Weekend Returns Under the Big Tent

If fall in Williamsburg had a taste, Scrumptious Weekend would be it.

As the air cools and the leaves take on their golden glow, Williamsburg gathers for one of its favorite traditions — a weekend that celebrates food, friendship, and the creative energy of our culinary community. This year, two beloved events — Young & Hungry and Chowderfest — return under the big white tent, promising two unforgettable nights of music, flavor, and local flair.

I’m a foodie at heart, and I’ve got to give a big shout-out to Steve Rose and the team at CultureFix for bringing events like this to life year after year. Nobody captures Williamsburg’s spirit quite like they do — the perfect mix of creativity, hospitality, and good old-fashioned fun.

So grab your friends, your appetite, and maybe a light jacket. It’s time to eat, drink, and be Williamsburg.

🌟 Young & Hungry Dinner

Friday, November 7

Under the Scrumptious Tent

Part dinner, part culinary showcase, part creative jam session — Young & Hungry is where Williamsburg’s rising chefs step into the spotlight, guided by the expert hands of their mentors. It’s a six-course progressive dinner, and each dish tells a story — one of learning, risk-taking, and pure flavor.

Guests move from station to station, tasting, talking, and soaking in live music beneath a tent filled with laughter and the aroma of something delicious being plated right in front of them.

Each course is paired with a local craft beer, wine, or spirit, because this town doesn’t just eat local — we sip local too.

Meet the Chefs & Mentors

One of the things that makes Young & Hungry so special is the way it pairs rising culinary talent with some of the most experienced and creative chefs in Williamsburg. It’s not just a dinner — it’s a mentorship showcase. Ideas get shared. Techniques get passed down. Confidence gets built. And the results are absolutely delicious.

Here’s who’s stepping into the spotlight this year:

Parrish Horne of Brookdale is collaborating with Stephen Perkins, Executive Chef of Colonial Williamsburg Taverns. Expect a thoughtful nod to local tradition with a fresh, modern twist.

Ileana White from Amber Ox Public House teams up with Simon Elaban, Culinary Director at Against The Grain. This pairing brings bold flavors and ingredient-driven creativity to the plate.

Abner Alva Cano of Don Chido joins forces with Riccardo Rinaldi, Executive Chef at Williamsburg Winery. Together, they balance bright, vibrant flavors with refined technique.

Chris Waller from Burgers On The Edge is paired with Scott Hoyland, Executive Chef at Culture Café. Expect something playful, unexpected, and full of personality.

Erik Murray of The Bake Shop collaborates with Rachel Taylor, Executive Pastry Chef at Against The Grain. Their dessert course may just be the show-stopper of the evening.

Kenneth Jacoby from Ember works alongside Anthony Rodriguez, Executive Chef at Riverwalk Restaurant — a duo known for deep, soulful, satisfying cooking.

Each dish in this six-course experience reflects these relationships — a blend of mentorship, creativity, and the spark of rising culinary voices shaping Williamsburg’s next chapter.
