4th of July Celebrations in Virginia Beach 2014

Virginia Beach offers two fun ways to celebrate America’s independence — at the oceanfront and at Mount Trashmore Park.

Large crowds are expected at both events, so attendees may want to consider arriving

early.

Stars and Stripes Explosion:

The Virginia Beach resort area will host a celebration of American independence with multiple live performances on oceanfront stages and, of course, fireworks at the annualStars & Stripes Explosion.

Musical acts range from tribute bands saluting some of the biggest names in the industry to performances by Symphonicity (the symphony orchestra of Virginia Beach) and the Virginia Beach Chorale.

Mount Trashmore July 4th Celebration

You can also celebrate Independence Day with your family and friends at Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation’s Annual July 4th Celebration at Mount Trashmore Park. This event is free and open to the public Friday, July 4 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. Limited on-site parking is available for $5. Fireworks rain date is July 5.

Schedule of Events:

Main Stage

4 p.m. — 6 p.m.

Local band User Friendly kicks off the celebration with classic and modern rock covers interspersed with some of their original songs.

8:15 p.m. — 9:30 p.m.

A high-energy local favorite, The Deloreans will perform a variety of ’80s hits that will have everyone on their feet, dancing to the likes of The Go-Go’s, Duran Duran, The Bangles, Huey Lewis & The News and more.

Activities

4 p.m. — 8 p.m.

Free children’s activities and games, including inflatables, will be available and volunteers will be making child I.D. cards at no cost.

9:30 p.m.

Zambelli, the “First Family of Fireworks,” will return to impress the crowd with their spectacular fireworks show.

Food and Beverages Available for Purchase:

Hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ sandwiches, chicken pitas, Italian sausages and more will be available for purchase on-site. Available beverages include sodas, bottled water, lemonade as well as sno-cones.

Road Closure:

When the parking lots at Mount Trashmore Park reach capacity, Edwin Drive between Independence and South boulevards may close. Expect delays.
