Broad Street breaks ground for Earth Fare and Ace Peninsula Hardware in Williamsburg VA

Broad Street Realty, a market-leading national commercial real estate firm headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, broke ground on  Midtown Row this past Thursday, March 8th by welcoming its lead tenants Earth Fare and Ace Peninsula Hardware at a groundbreaking ceremony. Broad Street is transforming the Williamsburg Shopping Center and the adjoining Monticello Shopping Center into Midtown Row, an experience-based retail, residential and entertainment district located in the heart of Williamsburg. Earth Fare, Williamsburg’s first organic grocer is the first to break ground in the former Monticello Shopping Center. Broad Street CEO, Michael Jacoby, Williamsburg Mayor, Paul Freiling, and Earth Fare CEO, Frank Scorpiniti spoke at the event.

Michael Jacoby stated: “We were thrilled with the turnout to the groundbreaking of Midtown Row. We have worked hard with both city representatives and the community to come up this shared vision for Midtown Row, and were so pleased to see members of the city council, planning commission, architectural review board, and so many others supporting Midtown Row at the event.” In his speech, Mayor Freiling added, “The redevelopment of this area is something the community has been aspiring to for more than a decade.”  In addition to elected officials, the groundbreaking was attended by local business owners and community members.

Midtown Row, which will include ground up construction, as well as significant renovations, will be delivering in phases between 2018-2020. Earth Fare plans to open its doors in June/July 2018. Ace Peninsula Hardware will relocate within Midtown Row by Fall 2018. Jacoby announced that the Ace Peninsula hardware President, Terry Deaver, signed his lease the morning of the Groundbreaking.  Jacoby also confirmed that the local favorite restaurant, Sal’s by Victor, has signed a new long-term lease.
