Discover Braemar Creek: A Hidden Gem in Williamsburg
804 Braemar Creek: Resort-style living in Williamsburg–with fairway views!
Every Home has a Story
After more than two decades selling homes throughout Williamsburg and Hampton Roads, I’ve come to understand something that online listings can’t fully capture: Every home has a story. Not just how many bedrooms it has. Not just what the countertops are made of. Not just how many square feet it offers. Homes are filled with lived moments — late-night conversations on the deck, holidays around the dining table, first steps across the living room floor, friendships formed in the driveway and at the neighborhood pool.
That’s why I created my “Every Home Has a Story” series.
How we met
In 2014 Mary Dunnigan decided to move to Williamsburg from nearby Newport News, where she had raised her family. After renting for a few years, she decided to take the plunge and buy her own place. She found my “Mr. Williamsburg” website, reached out, and we worked together to find the perfect property that would match her needs and her lifestyle at the time. I was able to introduce her to the Braemar Creek community, which checked all of her boxes. Now that she plans to relocate, it is my pleasure to list her lovely condominium townhome for sale.

“When we met, I found that John was so kind – and he listened,” Mary says. “I mean he REALLY listened. I was picking out houses to look at when he said, ‘I’ve got just the place for you!’ and here we are. I would never have found this neighborhood myself. I have loved living here.”
Condominium living with an enviable address
To be candid, homes in Williamsburg with golf-course views are rare at this price point – one reason Mary may have not known about Braemar Creek nine years ago.
Surrounded by the fairways of Williamsburg National Golf Course, the community offers lovely townhome-style condominiums with one of James City County’s most convenient locations – mere minutes from New Town, William & Mary, Colonial Williamsburg, Route 199 and I-64. “We’re also always an easy drive to Charles City or Richmond along Route 5. Sometimes it’s fun (and much prettier) to travel west along that route,” Mary says.
Nestled inside the award-winning Greensprings Plantation community, Braemar Creek features a low-maintenance lifestyle, which tends to draw a variety of residents from young professionals to retirees. Maintenance-free living appeals to many age groups!
As one might expect, there’s also a full array of amenities in the neighborhood, including a spacious clubhouse overlooking the swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness center, game area with big-screen TV, and playground. Not to mention the pastoral setting.
“It’s peaceful here,” Mary says. “But you can ride your bike across the street, cut over and be on the Capital Trail! People go out and walk the trail on the golf course in the morning. And Veteran’s Park is a stone’s throw away.”
Casual and comfortable
Curb appeal is immediate. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac, the townhouse features an exterior that is finished in craftsman-style stone and cedar shake shingles. There is even an attached one-car garage.
The floor plan for this home, with 1789 square feet of living space, is wonderfully open concept, perfect for hosting family and entertaining friends.

Enter via the front door and take in the dramatic two-story ceiling in the foyer and formal living room. “When I first walked in and shut the door, it felt like a home to me,” Mary says. “Maybe because there were stairs and all these windows and space.”
The soaring ceiling lends an air of roominess, while the windows bathe the living room in natural light. Architectural accents like display ledges and crown molding are found throughout, and each room flows beautifully into the next with a lovely combination of hardwood and tile flooring.
Just past the entrance to the left, a carpeted staircase leads to the home’s second level. Just beyond, a formal dining room leads to a well-appointed kitchen and casual living/family room.
For many, the heart of a home is its kitchen, which overlooks the family room, and this one is no exception. Imagine sharing conversation and a glass of wine at the bar, while dinner cooks on the stove. Or meal prepping for the next day while watching the children play board games in the family room. The open-gallery-style kitchen is simultaneously elegant and efficient. Both the bar and countertops are finished in granite, and the sleek stainless appliances convey. Cabinets are finished in a rich cherry and lower cabinets are deep, some with pull-out drawers for ease of retrieval.
“There’s more cabinet space than you’d think,” Mary says. “This is a very efficient kitchen.”
Both the kitchen and family room are enhanced by recessed lighting. Off the family room is a patio, accessible by double doors. A charming transom window above brings in even more natural light.
There are three bedrooms and 2 ½ bathrooms on the second level. The generously sized primary bedroom features a spacious ensuite bathroom and a walk-in closet. Bonus! Storage galore, thanks to walk-in eaves closets in the bedroom that faces the street.
“It’s a genuinely nice living space,” Mary says. “I moved here from a fairly large home in Newport News, so I worried at first that living in a townhouse would feel like an apartment. It doesn’t feel that way at all.”
She has enjoyed every aspect of her home and community, especially the many amenities its location delivers, in terms of the community’s natural attractions.
“The area is very quiet and the condo is spacious, so it feels much more like a house than a townhouse. I have felt completely at home here. I have also felt like I was on vacation with the golf course right here.”
Leaving is bittersweet
After nine years in her cozy-but-spacious townhome, Mary is planning to move closer to family, but says that she will carry fond memories of Braemar Creek wherever she goes.
One such memory involves watching a young child across the street literally grow up. “He would come over all the time. And when my daughter would visit with her golden retriever, he would come over to see them too. Next thing you know, he’s a teenager and a lifeguard. Now, he comes over and helps me house stuff sometimes.”
She has truly enjoyed the diversity of residents in this community and has felt a connection with her neighbors. “I’ll miss the ease of walking up to the pool and talking to people from all walks of life,” she says.
It’s a vibe. Visit the development and you will find children outdoors playing, older couples out with their walkers and everything in between. “It’s just a community where people are connected to each other,” Mary says. “There’s always something going on. People look out for each other, and they’re very inclusive here. I’m always being invited to something!”
Condominium living
Condominium living in a neighborhood like Braemar Creek differs in several respects from other forms of homeownership. Condominium unit owners own only the inside of their unit, and each owner also shares in the common property, including the outside of the building and the surrounding grounds, roadways and walkways.
“This neighborhood is exceptional in every respect. There are always activities going on at the Clubhouse. It feels like you’re living in a retreat, but you have a home. And someone else is taking care of it.”
HOA dues are $230 per month, quite reasonable, considering everything that’s included – which is everything but the painting of residents’ front doors. The monthly HOA dues cover all exterior maintenance and landscaping as well as roof replacement and snow removal. Water is billed quarterly through the property management company.
Unrelated, but interesting to note, Mary says that her electric bill has been consistently low ever since she moved in. “I think it’s because I’m nestled in here and built and insulated so well. They also built these units with firewalls, so you never hear your neighbors. There is just no noise distraction.”
For those who seek casual, maintenance-free living with one of the best addresses in town, Braemar Creek is perfect choice.
In Williamsburg, there aren’t many homes on golf courses at this price point. “I think that with the golf course here, this community will stand the test of time. It’s so insulated and nestled in. There will never be a car dealer across the street.”
Plus, with this gem of a home, the community’s friendly neighbors, and maintenance free living, you are bound to want to call Braemar Creek home!

Why I Write These (And Why Most Agents Don’t)
Here’s the truth.
Most listings are written to check boxes:
- Beds
- Baths
- Square footage
- “Updated kitchen”
- “Won’t last long”
That’s not how people actually make decisions.
People buy based on:
- How a home feels
- Whether they can picture their life there
- The story they’re stepping into
These take time to write. They require conversations, relationships, and context.
That’s why you don’t see many agents doing this.
But for me, it’s the most important part of the job.
About Me
I’m John Womeldorf—most people around here know me as Mr. Williamsburg.
I’ve been listing and selling homes across Williamsburg, Hampton Roads, and all the way from Virginia Beach to west of Richmond for over 20 years. I’m not just a Realtor—I’m an investor, renovator, cyclist, and someone who genuinely enjoys helping people understand what it’s like to live here.
I’ve helped clients:
- Buy their first home
- Downsize after 30+ years
- Build from the ground up
- Relocate from across the country
And along the way, I’ve learned that the best decisions come from good information and honest conversations—not pressure.
If you’re thinking about buying, selling, or just trying to figure out your next move, I’m always happy to talk.
