Fundraiser Concert for local musician Paul Popadak 2/23

Reprinted from the VA Gazette

I’m a member of Rich Whiskey, a Williamsburg born band that has become a very busy band working 4-6 nights a week. One of our members, Paul Popadak, has been fighting an incredible battle with cancer, and we are putting on a benefit on Sunday at the Moose Lodge to help him recuperate financially. Our amazing guys in the band have been paying him his normal pay while he’s been unable to work, but Paul needs more help. The pre-existing conditions clause really hit him. He was paying for insurance, but received only $2,000 of aid toward his $100,000 bill for treatment. Now with ObamaCare, he is getting some help, which is great, because he’s in the final stretch of daily chemo and radiation. But the help he is getting plus the couple hundred bucks a week that the band gets is not making a dent in his debt. So we want to raise some good money for him.

Paul has been a great example and a motivation to a lot of people in the world of fighting cancer. He has written pages of public forums on Facebook about his fight and how he’s felt throughout the whole treatment

He’s like another dad to me. I grew up in the entertainment world, and he has lived in it and has continued my education in it, as well helped me when I needed it. It’s time to give back.

Seven musical groups (Brent Shepard, The Blue Pills, Bobby Blackhat & Friends, Blue Ribbon, The Hark, The Lef Dovers, Rich Whiskey, and DJ Kudlz), the Moose Lodge, Coldwell Realty, Two Drummers Smokehouse, Sysco Food Service, Performance Food Group, Riverside Paper Supply and many more are helping to sponsor the event. I’m hoping that our generous community of greater Williamsburg will come enjoy the food, live music, auctions, and raffles, and help to raise a ton of relief funds for Paul.

Please join us 2-9 p.m. this Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Moose Lodge, 5429 Richmond Road, to help in our fundraiser, “Kick Cancer to the Curb.”
