James City County Hosts Longhill Road Corridor Study Public Workshops Feb 19 & 20th
The Longhill Road Corridor Study is gathering speed and the finish line is in sight. The third public workshop will be held over two sessions on February 19 and February 20 at Lafayette High School, 4460 Longhill Rd. Williamsburg VA 23188
Feb. 19, 6:30-9 PM – An open house to preview the information will begin at 6:30 PM, with the formal program beginning at 7 PM. The first evening’s events will consist of the following:
- Brief presentation
- Overview, how we got to where we are – Corridor Guiding Principles
- Results of visual preference survey (high level, not every single question response)
- Overview of materials/initial design concepts
- Preferred access plan / connectivity exhibits
- Recommended cross-section (by context area)
- Landscaping and gateways
- Specific intersection geometry and traffic control treatment
- Provide Feedback: Participants will be asked to review materials that will result in potential revisions to improvements of the corridor. This is a great way to ensure that your opinions are captured and contribute to the design of the roadway!
Feb. 20, 7-9 PM – Participants will see the proposed concept design for the corridor that incorporates input from over the course of the project to date, and feedback from as recently as the February 19 session. The second evening’s events will consist of the following:
- Brief presentation
- Evolution of the roadway (development patterns and traffic volumes)
- Evolution of the project
- Concept design created using input from the public and technical committee
- Following the presentation the proposed conceptual roadway design will be revealed. Participants will be provided the opportunity to offer comments on the design.
