With its authentic 18th-century architecture and true “Colonial” features the “Village” of Counselors Close is a one of a kind ”colonial enclave” within the City of Williamsburg, only 3 blocks from Merchant’s Square and the W&M campus and one block to the law school. The small, intimate “village” of Counselor’s Close is composed of 56 properties. 47 of these are attached townhomes, nine are detached.
Homes here were built from 1982- 1990 by Williamsburg’s finest home builders. The houses in Counselors Close range in size from 1600- 3100 square feet with the average coming in around 2000 square feet. You will find some property owners using them as second homes and also as primary homes for folks who don’t want the hassle of maintaining a yard.
The majority of the homes built offer second-floor master bedrooms. I am only aware of a few that had first-floor master bedrooms. Most of the homes feature wood floors, and extensive custom millwork throughout including crown molding, chair rail, and wainscoting. Numerous custom-designed and built-in cabinets and shelving also appear throughout most of the homes.
For the golf enthusiast, The Golden Horseshoe Golf Course is a short walk away. Williamsburg’s excellent library, many houses of worship and Matthew Whaley Elementary School also are close by.
