Skimino Landing Estates Neighborhood Spotlight Williamsburg VA

If you are looking for a home in Williamsburg with a large yard and privacy you may want to consider Skimino Landing Estates. It along with Westport at Fords Colony, Uncles Neck at Liberty Crossing,  The Retreat , Wexford Hills and Banbury Cross are some of the more popular neighborhoods with 2+ acres yards in the Williamsburg, James City County and upper York County areas of Virginia.front1 With yards large enough for family softball games  David Campbell knew Skimino Landing Estates, located near the York River and Camp Perry, was the right place to build his own family’s custom home.image “The lots here are all 2 plus acres, and I like that,” said David, co-owner of York County’s Tabb Homes Inc. “I didn’t want to be crammed into my neighbors next door. The yard here is big enough for my two Sheltie sheep dogs to run, and my son-in-law to practice his golf swings.” David enjoys living in the communities he helps to build. Between 1998 and 2006, he constructed 77 homes in The Greenlands, and lived in one of them for several years. He has also built a half-dozen other custom and semi-custom homes in Skimino Landing, where he has lived with his wife since 2009. water trail2David built his home in Skimino Landing not only for its 2.85-acre yard and the custom home he was able to build there, but also for the community’s accessibility to the York River. Residents have small boat access to the river via a creek, where the HOA maintains a boat ramp and boardwalk. Although David is not among the residents who boat from the neighborhood, he and his grandchildren enjoy walking the boardwalk along the water. “They can see fish sometimes, sometimes cranes or deer,” he said. The HOA, which charges dues of $25/month, also maintains picnic tables there. skimino signThe fact that Skimino Landing has a mix of ages and backgrounds was another draw for David. “The last home I built here [in Skimino] was for a family with seven kids, and another was for a Hampton dentist. Some of my neighbors are retired officers or work at Camp Perry.” “We’re  only a few miles from everything — Wal-Mart, Home Depot, hospital, YMCA,  banks, shopping,” David added. “When I lived in southern York County, I was closer to things but it took longer to get there because of the traffic. Here there isn’t traffic, so I can usually make the five miles in less than 10 minutes.” The topography throughout most of the Skimino Landing neighborhood is very rolling. A neighborhood boat launch is available for homeowners exclusively that will put your boat onto the York River.image One of the borders of the neighborhood is Camp Perry. If you know anything about the CIA, Camp Perry’s nickname is ” The Farm” You will find all styles of homes in Skimino Landing from Georgian Colonials to Transitionals, Cape Cods and everything in between. All of the homes were custom built starting around 2000. There are no two homes a like . Most homes are at least 3300 square feet, some are over 5000 square feet. Skimino Landing  is very convenient to Interstate 64. You can get to it from exit 234 or 238. Colonial Williamsburg is very close as well. Children who live here would attend Waller Mill Elementary, Queens Lake Middle and Bruton High School all which are part of the highly rated York County School System.
