Urbanna Oyster Fest Nov 7-8 2014

Each November, the lovely town of Urbanna, found on the Rappahannock River, throws the country’s largest and longest-running oyster festival called the Urbanna Oyster Festival. The town’s streets are closed to vehicle traffic and become filled with oyster booths, seafood dishes, music and crafts. The festival highlight is the oyster shucking contest which draws spectators from around the world.

One of a kind artisan craft vendors, renowned artists, fantastic oyster exhibits illustrating our colorful waterfront history, fireman’s parade, oyster festival parade, waterfront activities, live music and other performances over the full two days of the event, Oyster Festival Queen & Little Miss Spat crowing, Oyster Shucking Contest featuring CHAMPION Shucker DEBORAH PRATT!  The Town of Urbanna Welcomes you and your family to come join in the fun!  Come by boat and anchor at the marina or in the harbor, park you cars just across the bridge from the town and catch a hay ride in! 

The Saturday parade of the Urbanna Oyster Festival has become the focal point of the weekend. It has grown from an event featuring antique cars and floats to a parade encompassing a large Shriners contingency, numerous marching bands, and beauty queens and their courts from across the state. This is an annual tradition that cannot be missed.
