Virginia ranked #1 state to retire in.

A new study by personal finance website WalletHub has named Virginia as the best state to retire in 2023. The study evaluated all 50 U.S. states in three key categories: affordability, quality of life, and access to healthcare.

Virginia ranked 16th for affordability, 11th for quality of life, and 11th for access to healthcare. However, its overall score was higher than any other state, earning it the top spot.

Here are the top 10 states to retire in, according to WalletHub:

  1. Virginia
  2. Florida
  3. Colorado
  4. Wyoming
  5. Delaware
  6. New Hampshire
  7. South Dakota
  8. Minnesota
  9. Idaho
  10. North Dakota

WalletHub’s study found that Virginia has a number of factors that make it a great place to retire, including:

  • Affordability: The cost of living in Virginia is below the national average.
  • Quality of life: Virginia has a strong economy, a low crime rate, and a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities.
  • Access to healthcare: Virginia has a number of high-quality hospitals and healthcare providers.

Of course, not everyone will find Virginia to be the best place to retire. The best state for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. However, if you’re looking for a state that offers a good balance of affordability, quality of life, and access to healthcare, Virginia is a great option.
