Wawa coming to Lightfoot?

Doswell Ventures LLC/ An affiliate of Woodfin Oil of Richmond VA has requested a Special Use Permit to build a Wawa convenience store with accessory gas pumps at 6446 Richmond Road and 171 Lightfoot Road in the Lightfoot area of Williamsburg VA. The York County Planning Commission recommended unanimous approval at the Jan 9 meeting. It will now go before the York County Board of Supervisors for their approval at the Feb 9th meeting

The applicant is the current owner of the property and currently operates an Exxon convenience store with fuel sales on the site.
Wawa is a privately held company based in Wawa, Pennsylvania and its convenience stores are  a well-known and highly-regarded brand. Their facilities are best in class and have reinvented  the quick serve food and convenience business model. Their focus is on fresh, made-to-order
foods with a full array of complementary convenience items offered in a friendly, clean, and  attractive environment. Wawa stores are corporately owned and reflect a commitment to high-quality architecture, building materials, and landscape design. The construction investment alone
in the development of the facility will amount to approximately $5 million. The facility will employ  approximately 30-40 people, including a general manager and 3 assistant managers. All  employees receive full benefits and are eligible for tuition reimbursement. Additionally, 40% of Wawa is employee owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
