I just sold a home to clients in New Kent. Found this wonderful note from the sellers on the kitchen counter and thought I would share.
Congratulations on buying this beautiful home. This home comes with a wonderful history.
So, if you believe in good ‘juju” this home should have it! Our parents loved this home and all who entered! This home was a refuge to our family from the crazy world outside!
You see, when you entered this home you immediately felt loved! There was always laughter and support! Some fun things about this house…. this kitchen always had the ability to multiply delicious food no matter how many people walked in! The kitchen floor also turned into a dance floor at the change of a song!
The coziness of the huge den where all gathered around the warm fire…could also be a dance floor (before carpet). That beautiful picture window has the ability to show you the beauty of the world without stepping foot outside…many hours of bird watching…we would even turn the sofa around and turn on the flood lights to see the beauty of a fresh snow fall.
The dining room and living room were known as the “pretty rooms” for special occasions…. our Christmas tree lived in front of the bay window…and a beautifully set dining room table with a feast fit for a king!
Aww the back porch…our family gathered out there frequently…a simple dinner, a summer cookout, a celebration of many graduations, birthdays, and any other reason to get together. My parents would spend many hours picking crab meat to share with the family in some delicious meal!
The garage…may not seem like much but it was our step in from the cold….from a great day of hunting or a day of sleigh riding down “the hill”….yes you can sleigh ride from the top of the hill around the curve if you are talented enough or daring enough.
I would be remiss if I did not tell you about the attic fan…if done correctly you can bring a cool breeze through the house better than any air conditioner! You must know the technique! 🙂
Our parents were wonderful people and they would want you to enjoy this home as much as they did.
As you get to know “folks in the Forge” you will hear stories of them.
We wish you many years of happiness in your new home!
