Yorktown Market Days

Yorktown Market Days, which was recently named the Gold Level Winner in the “Best of Hampton Roads” Readers’ Choice Awards, is alive with activity this summer. Shoppers will be able to buy locally-grown, fresh picked produce and watch local chefs demonstrate dishes using items fresh from the market. Come out Saturday, August 11, to participate in the statewide celebration of Farmers’ Market Week, designated by Governor Bob McDonnell as the week of August 5-11, 2012.

Additionally, the York County Beautification Committee will be on-site accepting trash bags for recycling on August 11, September 8, October 13, and November 10

The market will offer a variety of exciting demonstrations on select Saturdays now through November at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Located on the Yorktown waterfront between Buckner and Ballard Streets, the market operates weekly on Saturdays through September 15, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and continue in the fall on select Saturdays: October 13 (fall festival), November 10 (holiday open house weekend) and December 15 (Toyland parade), with extended hours to 3 p.m. for the October, November and December markets.

The market is free and features seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh seafood, eggs, poultry, beef and pork; fresh breads, cheeses, baked goods, peanuts, gourmet herbs, cut flowers, potted plants, organic and gluten free products; coffee, jams and jellies; live music and quality art.

Free parking is available at the market in several public parking areas throughout Historic Yorktown. The free Yorktown trolley runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Labor Day and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the fall through November 4.
